Creating a good first Impression…
Sponsor – NGO Challenge
Duration – 12 Weeks
During November 2013 Parkgate and District Community applied for a small projects grant to the NIEA Challenge Fund 2013-2014. We were informed in December that our projects had been recommended for funding from the NGO Challenge Fund. The projects had to be completed and claims submitted by 26 March 2014!
Our projects are aimed at enhancing the main route into our village, namely Parkgate Road.
The gardens at Parkgate Road add to the attraction of the village creating a good first impression. They feature an 18th century (replica) park gate with black stone pillars thus highlighting the historical significance of the village as the entrance / gateway to the Earl of Donegal’s hunting park.
The gardens were designed by local landscape architect Penny Murphy and have been planted with an exceptional variety of shrubs and hedging. An area has been left for community planting of bedding plants and bulbs which Antrim Borough Council has agreed to supply.
